Types of Coffee Drinks
By the time that the coffee beans make it to a final product, there are so many choices available in drink preparations! Coffee has become a popular social drink, but it also encompasses a vast coffee culture with a number of different brew methods.
- Coffee: Coffee is a drink made from fresh coffee grounds, and it is normally prepared with a traditional drip brew coffee maker. The process involves water being heated to be push through the coffee grounds within a filter for a final brew product.
- Espresso: Espresso is a concentrated coffee beverage. It is brewed within an espresso machine, and it uses very fine espresso grounds that are often made from a dark espresso roast. An espresso shot is brewed within 25 seconds, and it provides a deep and dark taste to the brew product.
- Espresso Macchiato: This is a traditional espresso topped only with milk foam for an authentic Italian beverage.
- Espresso con Panna: This is a shot of espresso topped with whipped cream.
- Breve: This is a rich espresso drink made with one shot of espresso, two thirds steamed half-and-half, and topped with one third milk foam.
- Latte: This is a popular espresso beverage that contains one shot of espresso, two thirds steamed milk, and one third milk foam.
- Cappuccino: This is a drink made with one shot of espresso, one third steamed milk, and two thirds milk foam.
- Mocha: This is prepared the same way as a cappuccino with added chocolate syrup. It will contain one shot of espresso, 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup, two thirds steamed milk, and topped with whipped cream.
- Americano: This is closest to a traditional cup of coffee. It is a shot of espresso diluted with water to create a strong coffee.
- Turkish Coffee: This is a traditional Turkish coffee that is brewed with very fine coffee grounds that almost resemble a powder. It results in a thick and delicious coffee drink.
